Canterro-Solo
Rating: 10 This is a 4-song EP from ex-Farenheit vocalist and if you’re looking for
some excellent AOR rock, this is it. The Key is a nice ballad and opens this disc.
Although a good song, this probably wouldn’t have been my first choice. The Power is
a good rocker. That might have been a better choice for the opening song. The third song,
River Of Love, is another good up tempo song and rounding up this EP is an acoustic
version of The Key. Overall an excellent disc and recommended if you like old Styx-Journey

When I received a few
days ago an e-mail from this nice Austrian singer, Kanduth Bernhard, known in art as
"Canterro", I couldn‘t stop myself from a big laugh (to all of you who
don‘t know, the word "cantero", in neapolitan dialect means "chamber
pot"). But my hilarity finished when I got his 9 songs demo, really well cared, with
a good recording and a good number of interesting songs. My favourite is a stunning pomp
ballad "When Love Hurts", with a crescendo that gave me chills... but I found
really fascinating the rocking refrain of "Free" and the up-tempo "River Of
Love". Canterro‘s pop-Aor is really promising and if he‘ll get better in
the rocking tracks, I guess we italians will have to be afraid of the competition with our
neighbours Austrians in melodic rock... contacts:.... Zurück zum

send it.You have a brilliantly beautiful voice, which reflects the heart and soul in your
singing and in your words. I was truly uplifted! I also found your bio to be of interest

Solo (Mega Fant 1995)
If you love AOR, this
EP from Canterro is for you! With excellent songwriting, this cd is comparable to bands
like Journey, but yet the lyrics perhaps set it apart. The lryics on "The Key"
and "Power" are very spiritual (but yet not blatant all out "Christian
lyrics"). My personal favorite is "Power", the vocals on this is great!

Canterro - Solo (4 track CD single) 7.5/10
This has to be the
first release from Austria I've ever heard. Not a country you associate with big AOR
bands, but this could be the first.
Canterro is an outfit
which revolves around lead singer Berni "Canterro" Kanduth, a man possessed with
a voice which is very suited to melodic rock. The thing I don't understand about this CD
single is
the order of the
tracks. First track (and therefore, presumably the single) is The Key, a song with a
"nice" acoustic and piano feel to it. But therein lies the problem .... it's too
nice!
Move to track 2 and
now we start to get going! Power is the sort of song that Canterro should be doing all of
the time as it's a damn fine AOR song ... it should also have been the main track on this
single. Great chorus with superb backing vocals, the sort of track you'd find on a Robert
Tepper album and if that isn't a compliment then I don't know what is.
The third track, River
Of Love, continues from where Power left off. Same style song with an excellent
guitar-riff that sounds really 80s, and another strong chorus.
The fourth track is an
unplugged version of The Key. I don't understand why, if they wanted to do an unplugged
version of one of the songs, they chose this track as it isn't too far from unplugged in
its original form.
My recommendation to
the band would be to stick to songs like Power and River Of Love because they do them very
well and Berni's vocals are more suited to them. It'd be interesting to see what direction
a full album would take.

Bernie Kanduth used to be the frontman for a band called FAHRENHEIT in the past (just in
case someone might remember...) and is now fronting a young four-piece by the name
CANTERRO. He´s also helping out another band called BIG ENUFF, whose musicians got
together with him to do his first solo-record, which also got released under the CANTERRO
monicker...Confused? This 4-track ep was recorded at the end of 1994 and feautures
excellent melodie rock / AOR-material. Bernie´s voice is almost perfect for this style of
music as he´s able to sing with a lot of variety and emotions. The opening track
„The Key" is feautured twice (the 2nd version was done unplugged) and
could easily make it in the charts. It´s a really emotional ballad-type song with great
harmonies and a catchy chorus. Some goes for the other songs feauturen here. They all have
great hooklines, a strong vocal delivery and good melodies. If you enjoy AOR-music, you
should other a copy of this ep for öS 100,- (no other currencies mentioned from the

–Solo (Megafant Musik) Der
frühere Fahrenheit-Sänger Berni "Canterro" Kanduth mit neuem Bandprojekt.
Obwohl der auf "Solo" gebotene Mainstream Pop/Rock nicht unbedingt meine
bevorzugte Richtung ist, ziehen sich die Kärntner überraschend gut aus der Affäre. Vor
allem "The Key" (auch in einer Unplugged-Version zu hören) und
"Power" überzeugen durch ihr sicheres Gespür für gute Melodien. Lediglich
"River of Love" ist zu banal ausgefallen. Desweiteren verfügen Canterro mit
Berni auch über einen guten Sänger, der sich im Mainstream Rockgenre hörbar zu Hause
fühlt.
Wer's also ab und zu auch ein wenig
radiotauglicher mag, bekommt hier durchaus ansprechende Kost geboten. Die Maxi-CD kann

Nach der Trennung von
Kärntens erfolgreichster Rockband Fahrenheit im Jahre 1991 bleibt Sänger Berni Kanduth
nicht untätig und produziert 24-Spur-Demos selbstkomponierter Songs. Im Sommer ´92 formiert sich erstmals die
Band Canterro. Mit Umbo am Bass, Sigo Greschitz an der Gitarre und Tommy Brugger am
Schlagzeug folgen Auftritt mit Ostbahn Kurti, Carmel und den Flying Pickets. Im Herbst
´93 muß Canterro wegen musikalischer Weiterbildung – Umbo studiert Bass am B.I.T.
in Los Angeles, Berni absolviert eine Gesangsausbildung am AIM – auf Eis gelegt
werden. Im Frühling 1994 beginnt mit dem Song "The Key" eine Zusammenarbeit mit
Canterro (mittlerweile ein Soloprojekt von Berni Kanduth) und dem Villacher Label
"Megafant". Im März 1994 agiert Berni als Backgroundsänger bei einem
DoRo-Videodreh für Tony Carey ´s Song "Cold War Kids". Im Winter 1994
erscheint die erste Maxi CD "Solo". Als Zielgruppe sieht Canterro vorallem jenes
musikbegeistertes Publikum, das von Konservenmusik und künstlichen Tönen genug hat.
"Rock & Roll with heart & soul" lautet die Devise.

aus Feldkirchen bietet "Rock & Roll with Heart & Soul" Vor kurzem
brachte sie eine Single-CD auf den Markt, die sich gut verkauft. Das Lied "The
Key" hat die Hitparade von Radio Uno erobert und lag zwei Wochen lang an der Spitze.
Anfang April wurden in Wien zwei neue Titel, eine Ballade und der Rocksong "Hungry

Canterro, eine neue,
junge Kärntner Band, bestehend aus vier Musikern, sind zur Zeit in aller Munde und mit
ihrem Ohrwurm "The Key" auch in der Hitparade vertreten. Jedes Ende ist ein neuer Anfang. Und der
Beginn von Canterro fand eigentlich mit der Trennung der wohl bekanntesten Kärntner Band
statt: Fahrenheit. Sänger Berni Kanduth bastelte somit weiter an neuen eigenen Songs und
war bald auf der Suche nach guten Musikern, um seine inzwischen gesammelten Werke auch
live zum Besten zu geben.
Gesucht – gefunden! Mit Umbo
(Bass), Sigo (Gitarre) und Thommy (Schlagzeug) war die beste Formation für dieses
Vorhaben zusammengestellt. Es fanden etliche Konzerte statt – ihre Musik (melodiöser
Rock), aber auch eigne Interpretationen legendärer Songs fanden großen Anklang und ein
begeistertes Publikum.
1993 wurde Canterro erst einmal auf
Eis gelegt. Bassist Umbo konnte dem Ruf des sonnigen Californien nicht länger widerstehen
und entschied sich für eine musikalische Fortbildung in Los Angeles. Berni folgte dem
selben Ruf – doch nur bis Wien, wo er am American Institute of Music eine
Gesangsausbildung bei Lehrern wie Angus Bangus (Miles Davis) oder Les Wise (Stevie Wonder)
absolvierte. Im Winter 1994 fanden sich alle vier wieder zusammen. Reich an Erfahrung und
Eindrücken, wurde eine Maxi-CD aufgenommen. Und das Ergebnis ist "allererste
Sahne". Nach dem Motto der vier Musiker von Canterro, "Rock & Roll with
heart & soul", trifft die CD voll ins Schwarze. Die musikalische Fortbildung hat
hörbare Spuren hinterlassen und läßt Canterro auch live zu einem wahren Genuß werden.
Für alle Konzert-Freaks: Canterro wollen im Sommer so oft wie möglich live auftreten.

seiner ersten Solo-CD verkaufte "Canterro" alias Bernhard Kanduth an die 1000
Exemplare. Vor allem der Song "The Key" hätte sich mehr Einsätze in den
diversen Radiostationen verdient. Der ehemalige Sänger von "Fahrenheit"
absolvierte am "American Institut of Music" in Wien eine Gesangsausbildung. Er
erreichte mit seiner Stimme Höhen, von denen andere Sänger nur träumen können. Nach
langem Hin und Her hat Bernhard jetzt auch eine ideale live Band gefunden. Mit Hans
Umschaden (Bass), Gery Kretzer (Gitarre) und Peter Bachmayer (Schlagzeug) hat
"Canterro" drei Profimusiker an seiner Seite, die es verstehen, seine Songs
optimal umzusetzen. Weiters spielt der ausgezeichnete Sänger mit dem Gitarristen Sigo
Greschitz im Duo und absolviert mit ihm "Unplugged-Konzerte". "Viele
Veranstalter können sich die komplette Band oft nicht leisten, da ist
"Unplugged" eine gute Alternative", meint Bernhard Kanduth. Zur Zeit arbeitet der Feldkirchner an neuen
Songs. Im Spätherbst stehen die Aufnahmen der neuen CD, die im Frühjahr erscheinen soll,
auf dem Programm. An seiner Vermarktung arbeitet der Sänger äußerst professionell. Ab
Herbst erscheint eine "Canterro Homepage" im Internet, in seiner Mailingliste
hat er bereits 800 Adressen stehen. Alle News von "Canterro" erfahren die Fans
